Stanley, Hong Kong.

Stanley, Hong Kong.

I just want to be here and clear my mind, all over again. By far the bestest, calming place I have ever been to in Hong Kong.

And how I wished that I could fly here for a day and get my wedding photoshoot done. It's truly a wonderful place. Clean air, cool breeze, breathtaking scenery. Really, really therapeutic. But there wasn't any halal food here. Sucks much.

Austin Tan the A level "intelligent" brat insults ITE students

The thing about the sharing feature on facebook is that, sometimes a post from donkey months back tend to get shared and again go viral on the social media. Just suddenly today, posts on Austin Tan, the so-called A level student who looked down on ITE students, came up on Facebook, thus setting the viral trend again.

so who is this Austin Tan? this came up in Facebook today...

Austin Tan, the "educated" A level student who acts like a total retard

Well, his comments FURIATES me. Yes, it furiates me even though I am not from the ITE. I spent 4 years in secondary school, got into the top express class in secondary 3 and 4, went to Millennia Institute for the 3 months course, passed my O levels, qualified for a place in Junior College, but went to polytechnic instead.

Why did I choose to go to polytechnic even though i qualify to go to a JC? because i thought going to JC makes one stressed up and end up being a total retard, like Austin Tan. I also find that people from JCs are much more arrogant as compared to those in ITEs and Polytechnics. It's like having good grades makes one a much better person. but noooooo. Seriously, is this what they are nurturing in good schools? Are these the type of people that Singapore wants to have?

People must realize now that a high IQ isn't proportional to High EQ. You've got to have a bit of both. What's the purpose of good grades but not being able to communicate with other people in a nice way where you can gain respect from?

If he was a boss, I would bet on you that I'll have high blood pressure and I will hyperventilate from all his bitchiness.

How old is he, seriously? I wonder if he has even served NS. A guy like him will be the main target of bully and abuse from his bunkmates. Talk so much, act so little. Arrogant.

Anyway, an A level cert is useless if one doesn't make it into a university. I know alot of people who didn't make the mark for their A level examinations (be it in a Junior College or in Millennia Institute), and who ended up going to a polytechnic, thus wasting 2 to 3 years of their time, only to repeat the school routines again whilst their other JC friends in the same batch as them are pursuing their degrees.

I graduated from Singapore Polytechnic in February 2009. The economy was a pain in the butt and I couldn't get a suitable job for myself in the relevant industry that i studied. I worked as a delivery rider with Pizza Hut, also at Singapore Polytechnic. I dedicated myself to Pizza Hut for that few months whilst still scouting for a better full time job. Am i grumbling? No. It's perfectly okay to find work experience in other industries. In this case, I've dealt with difficult customers, heavy peak hour dine-in customers, and it also taught me to interact well with my other colleagues and managers so that the deliveries goes smoothly even when orders are flooding especially on month ends when most people get they paycheck.

Well the point is, after I graduated with a diploma, some of my friends from Junior Colleges just started their first year in polytechnic, pursuing their diploma. Few years after I graduated and got myself a very stable job, some of my male friends who were from Junior College just started their first year. Imagine how much time they wasted? How much income they would have earned from themselves if they had gone through just the polytechnic route. Some people aren't really destined for JCs. The workload, the stress. But i am not implying that polytechnic is completely stress free either. And i am not implying that ITE is the end for people who can neither make it to a JC nor Polytechnic. In my opinion, the ITE is the BEST place for people who are not theoretically inclined but learns fast from hands-on.

Do A level students learn hands on? not much. Does A level students learn how to operate complex mechanism? No. Does A level student go through internship to enhance their knowledge so that they can relate to their studies? No.

I don't see how an A level student can be sooo much superior than one from ITE. in fact, in certain industries, an ITE graduate can earn so much more than a degree holder who is just an office worker. i know of alot of ITE graduates who earn more than $3k BASIC salary, and they're of my age. when i say BASIC salary, that is EXCLUDING 100+ hours of OT. In all honesty, i think my colleagues (and I) can clock in more than 100 hours of overtime per month. And we still get our days off! Shame on you Austin Tan for making such brainless remark. I wonder where did that 100+ hours come from? Are you implying that all ITE graduates work at MacDonalds after they complete school?

i think he's the joke, not the ITE students, not people who work at MacDonalds.

Sometimes it's really not what's in a certificate. It's your ability and willingness to work, learn, take on new challenges, face the challenges with an open mind, yet keeping your cool towards you colleagues and not being a ball licker. That's where the EQ comes to play. Even if you're an intelligent bastard who can do things quickly and can settle things fast, if you're an asshole, you'll still be an asshole to everyones eyes. If you resigned from your previous company with a bad reputation, chances are people will not be willing to employ you if you are looking for jobs within the same industry. The network in which your bosses have is just too wide and unpredictable.

Well to Austin Tan, GOOD LUCK HOR. I am suspecting that he is silently targeting the MALAYS.  but hey, NOT ALL MALAYS ARE STUPID OKAY. even society's thrash can make it big in life if they know what to do to make a change in their lives for the better.

so bitch please, stop stereotyping.

A motorcyclist's rage.

Presenting... my (ex) ride. But well, this post isn't really about what i'm riding or why I sold off my bike, but I'm just going to vent my frustrations on the attitudes of the road users in Singapore.

As most of us know, in Singapore, to own a vehicle, one must obtain a COE (certificate of entitlement) and also have road tax that has to be renewed every 6 months or one year. Now YOU tell me, has anyone seen the actual "CERTIFICATE OF ENTITLEMENT" of your own vehicle? No?

Then, WE ALL KNOW how Singaporeans are. KIASU. And we all know that most Singaporeans live a hectic lifestyle. Always rushing, mostly always late. Unfortunately, rushing to work has become a very bad habit for Singaporeans.

The attitude of most Singaporean drivers are appalling. The road etiquette of foreign drivers on Singapore roads are worst! They all seem to have these mindset that "EH! I DRIVE CAR, MY COE AND ROAD TAX MUCHMUCH EXPENSIVE THAN YOU, YOU DIEDIE MUST GIVE WAY OKAY." Sad much? We motorcyclists pay road tax too. We have our rights on the roads to. And we deserve every ounce of respect because we are much more vulnerable on the roads.

It's a pity how the social media portray motorcyclists in a bad light and seems to always put the blame on motorcyclists for every serious accident or fatality on the road. Take Ms Hazel Ng's accident 2 months ago as an example. If she had realized that the lorry has been tailgating her, even when she tried to get away from that lorry, the lorry's deliberate act still knocked her down. So is it Hazel's fault? To say that Hazel knocked onto a lorry will be a very very very bad understatement. why not those people who made that claim, try get their ass on a bike and on purpose, go hit a lorry. doesn't make sense does it?

IN ALL HONESTLY, squeezing in between lanes isn't a wrong thing to do. It is just RIGHT for motorcyclists to be out of the way for most cars. Why do the driving schools emphasize so much on checking of blindspots before making every lane change and before making every turn? Why do driving schools emphasize on checking of both side and rear mirrors to make you aware of the traffic around you? WHY? It is because it's for all you brainless selfish drivers to keep a lookout for other road users and pedestrians alike. They are all much vulnerable to get hurt than you are.

It is also brainless for drivers to SUGGEST and ENFORCE the ruling that motorcyclists stay on the leftmost slower lane. HELLO, don't driving schools teach you that heavy vehicles have wider blindspot? DO you even wish to stay behind a big heavy vehicle whilst driving? I doubt so. SO please, don't suggest or emphasize rulings on matter where you yourself are unwilling to adhere to.

Why did i say that it is only right for bikes to squeeze in between lanes? Imagine if the car infront of you jammed brake, even if you kept a safe distance behind the car, it would still take you some time for you to get to a complete stop SAFELY if you have a good sense of balance. But even if you managed to stop behind the car that jammed his brakes, will the car behind you manage to stop in time? Drivers nowadays have completely no respect for motorcyclists. They have this assumption that since bikes only has 2 wheels, it would be easier and faster for us to brake and slow down. WRONG. we need to balance ourselves as well!

talking about safe distance, on a normal day on the expressway, a rider can't really keep a safe distance between himself and the car infront. why? because there will ALWAYS BE that impatient driver who will try to deliberately cut in front of you.

nowadays, LTA has been running on heels, stopping bikes and looking out for bike modification and such. Why is the government even bothered about these modifications? AND MIND YOU, THE FINES ARE QUITE A HEFTY AMOUNT. It's really stupid, that the government will rather enforce such ruling based on the modifications made to a vehicle, rather than enforcing safe driving and help save PEOPLE'S LIVES.

You know, in Shell, anything that happens to a plant, it will always be PEOPLE BEFORE ASSET. Meaning, anything happens, they will try to rescue the people be it contractors or its own staff FIRST. Afterwhich they will do what has to be done to the damage on site.

But has anyone realized that here in this money driven country, it is always FINES after FINES after FINES. Smoke anywhere, kena stopped by NEA and kena fined. Never put parking coupon, KENA FINE. Wear tinted visor, KENA FINE. There isn't even GIVE AND TAKE. On a sunny day, if one is wearing a tinted visor, okay la understandable. SUNNY AND GLARING right. If one is wearing a tinted visor at night, then THAT is a valid reason to fine him/her as wearing a tinted visor at night will limit ones vision. But to fine someone for wearing tinted visor on a sunny day, with "it will make your vision limited and risk your life" IS UTTERLY STUPID.

Instead of imposing fines on anything and everything, Singapore and it's concerning bodies should...

1- SET UP SAFE DRIVING CAMPAIGNS
2- STOP PRIVATE DRIVING INSTRUCTORS
3- ENFORCE DRIVERS TO KEEP A LOOKOUT FOR MOTORCYCLISTS
4- STOP BEING SO ANAL ON VEHICLE MODIFICATIONS. IF A CAR CATCH FIRE BECAUSE OF HIS ILLEGAL MODIFICATION, IT IS THE CAR OWNERS PROBLEM. BUT IF 1000 DRIVERS ARE RECKLESS DRIVERS, 10000 OTHER ROAD USERS' LIVES ARE AT STAKE
5- HAVE MORE THEORY LESSONS FOR CLASS 3 LEARNERS. STOP E-LEARNING FOR CLASS 3 LEARNERS AS THEY CAN JUST SKIP THROUGH THE E-LEARNING PROCESS.

6- SET UP QUIT SMOKING CAMPAIGNS. IMPOSING FINES AND INCREASING CIGARETTE PRICES WON'T HELP.
7- STOP POSTING GORE IMAGES ON CIGARETTE BOXES. GORGING ON FAST FOOD EVERYDAY RISKS ONES HEALTH AS WELL. STOP THE DOUBLE STANDARD

It will be a very long post if I continue on. That's it for the night.
Please don't be a brainless driver. Please keep the roads safe.

Yours truly,
xoxo.

Universal Studios!

2 weeks ago me and the boy went to USS. Well initially the plan was to head to adventure cove and just get our wet gears there. But who am I kidding? the items at adventure cove's gift shop was ridiculously overpriced! so yea, we paid the entrance fee into Adventure cove only to waste $58 as we hadn't got anything prepared to get ourselves wet. Since we were already at Sentosa, we thought.. why not we take a trip to Universal Studios again? yey!

This is my third trip to USS. but hey! I never got sick of the rides okay!

Because it was sweltering hot, we decided to take a ride on Shrek's 4D Adventure after going on Madagascar. We were just in time to immediately enter the ride anyway. Before that, took picture with pinocchio!
We didn't have any plans on which ride to take though, we just took whatever rides our legs took us. The clouds were getting gloomy as we walked through the park. Then. we went to ..

REVENGE OF THE MUMMY!
my second favourite ride in the park. The dark indoor environment makes the roller coaster much more thrilling. Fiance still screamed like a ku niang. hahaha!

The queue was god fucking long I tell you! After the ride, it was raining cats and dogs! We were stucked. In fact, everyone else was stucked and skeltering to find a shelter! Since I didn't want to get stucked at one spot whilst waiting for the rain to mellow down (I regret leaving the umbrella inside the bike's box), I spent $6 just to buy ponchos for ourselves. And since most parts of the park was flooded anyway, I took off my pumps and walked barefooted.

Then we got to sci-fi city to get our nicotine fix. It was still kinda drizzling though. After which fiance saw something interesting that he wanted to try: CHURROS! it was damn expensive lor. $3+ for a single stick of churros. He also bought corn dogs. Kinah said it looked like pork. Well, FYI dear kinah, it's corn flour and inside is chicken sausage. NO PORK YEAY!

We queued for the Transformers ride. It was damn damn damn damn long la. Anyway you know there's these interactive panels where visitors can press and turn and do all they want to the panels? There were this group of ang mohs from IDK what country and they were behaving like monkeys! They were much taller than me and fiance and definitely looked much older than us but the behaviors speaks their age i guess? They were climbing up and pressing everything like a little kid with ADHD i tell you. sooo sooo annoying. There were certain parts where they went "omg is this real? i think it's fake. lets try it." I think we were stucked behind them for a good 30 minutes or so. Because everyone else were queueing for the Transformers ride whilst waiting for the rain to completely stop.

Anyway, it was my third time on the ride, and all I did mostly was to look up to see where the cabin actually go to create all these awesome effects. Verdict: I HAVE NO IDEA. but seriously I really really liked the effects and the storyline. Feels sooooo real.

After that we walked and walked .. and went into the Sesame Street's souvenir shop! Our main agenda was to go to the newly opened attraction, honestly.

TThe view of the shop from inside the queue for the Spaghetti Space Chaser. And fiance trying on the cute hair bands. Very cute my dear boy...

i squealed whilst queueing for the ride. reminds me sooo sooo soooooooo much of my childhood days. Oscar the grouch, ernie and bert, cookie monster, Elmo, big bird etc.

It's action time!

Pardon the blurry pictures. My samsung note isn't doing much justice to capture memories for Sesame street, my all time favourite childhood show!

The screen panel that was in the carriage that we were on.

On the main street there were boards that contains interactive information about sesame street. The were also interactive game stations that was themed on sesame street, like the one in the top picture. Me and fiance didn't take part even though we were told that we could win some good prizes. Well lets leave the fun to the kids shall we? We just looked at the kids having so much fun playing these games. God willing, when we have our own kids, we'll have the same fun together as a family. (:

ME WANT COOOKIEEE ! AMMM NYAM NYAM NYAM NYAMM... COOOKKIIEEE.
hehe

Next we queued up for "Lights, Camera, Action", It's just based on how big named directors film their movies. Whilst queueing, this view of this lady really disturbed me. ALAMAK LADY, HIDE YOUR BRA STRAP LAH! you know i was soo godamn tempted to pull her bra strap and let it snap on her skin. sheeeesh~

Help! we're caught in a category 5 thunderstorm! ahhh i don't wanna die yet! I wana get married and have babies, beautiful babies. haa okay kidding.

Panorama shot FAIL.

The queue for the meet and greet session for Elmo and Grover was loooong! So i just had to look on from afar. Boo to us. Elmo why you sooo cute!

Oh yea, after which they were spraying bubbles! yeay bubbles! look at that little girl! happily chasing bubbles! looking at kids makes me happy!

I feel like there are much more that's missing. Ah I guess that's because my phone was running low on battery thats why. So anyway, me and fiance didn't take the battlestar galactica mainly because fiance is scared of such thrilling rides. i wanted to get on that roller coaster soo badly but it's okay. I've got to remind myself the next time I go to USS, I need to travel light and wear clothings appropriate for the weather and pack an umbrella in my bag no matter rain or shine.

Stay tuned for part two of the USS trip. ((:
